In June 2006 I
received my Doctor of Ministry degree, after studying for six years in
Oakland, California. Over half of my classes were with Matthew Fox,
esteemed author of over 28 books, including Original
Blessing,
and others on creativity and creation spirituality. He was an
inspiration when I started the program as well as when I finished. My
dissertation was about the integrative power of art in acknowledging
spiritual experience.
I am pleased to
be able to offer ministry services at this time: interfaith,
non-denominational, or creative rituals. Services include wedding
ceremonies, memorial services, blessings of various kinds (baptism, new
home or business), or I am happy to create, or co-create with you, a
ritual for any other sacred occasion.
My fees are
based on time needed for the event and preparation. In general, for
weddings of under 50 people, I charge $250. This includes one hour of
counseling time, ceremony preparation, and the actual ceremony (and
rehearsal if needed). For weddings with over 50 people, the price is
negotiable, generally between $275-300. I prefer to talk with you in
person, hear about your budget, and see what we can work out.
I have also been
a professional photographer since 1978. I have taught photography all
over the state and at workshops on Ocracoke. For small weddings only, I
am also able to offer photography after the ceremony (family
group portraits, bride and groom portraits on location).
I have lived and
worked for decades on Ocracoke Island and am quite familiar with the
special circumstances that we live with. I can also recommend other
services or wedding planners for you to consider.
